Job summary

Backroads in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Demand Planner to ensure optimal trip offerings and capacity aligned with guest demand. You will analyze bookings, performance data, and market insights to shape future trip assortments and drive growth.

In this role you’ll partner with Trip Development, Marketing, Hotel Operations, and Yield to provide data-driven recommendations, manage biannual planning, and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets to identify trends and support decision-making.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly through presentations, reports, and discussions with cross-functional partners and C-Suite executives.

Responsibilities

• Analyze booking trends, trip performance, and demand patterns to identify opportunities and risks across Backroads' trip assortment.
• Review trip performance and departure schedules; make recommendations to add capacity, release inventory, modify departures, or cancel trips based on demand.
• Identify challenges, opportunities, and strategic initiatives and drive alignment among stakeholders and leadership.
• Serve as a primary Demand Planning resource through the team's service desk for cross-functional requests on trip performance, scheduling, and capacity.
• Contribute to the annual assortment planning process for next 2–3 years and align offerings with guest demand.
• Collaborate with Trip Development to balance offerings with capacity constraints and growth.
• Work with Marketing to prioritize trips, destinations, and product segments based on demand and priorities.
• Monitor industry trends and competition to inform planning strategies and opportunities.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses, presentations, and recommendations for leadership.
