Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a VDC Engineer to join our Mission Critical team on data center projects in San Marcos, TX. The role focuses on design, management, and implementation of VDC systems, including 3D/4D/5D modeling, field coordination, and workflow optimization.

You will coordinate with project teams to improve workflows, develop models and simulations, and support RFIs/ASIs with accurate data. Onsite presence and ongoing professional growth are expected.

Qualifications

• Previous internship experience in a construction role supporting VDC (LEAN is a plus)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and initiative
• Proficiency with Autodesk software and general VDC tools

Responsibilities

• Model development and coordination of VDC models with increasing independence.
• Provide field and project team support including execution plans, quantities, constructability coordination, visuals, and scheduling.
• Apply VDC tools (3D/4D/5D) to improve workflows and create models, renderings, and simulations.
• Collaborate with project teams to implement VDC workflows across the lifecycle.
• Manage RFIs, ASIs, and digital documentation workflows with timely data access.
• Provide basic training and contribute to VDC standards and materials.
• Research and test new software/hardware; support company-wide improvement efforts.
• Prepare visuals and documentation for marketing and BD to highlight VDC contributions.
• Represent the VDC team professionally on site and in meetings, pursuing ongoing learning.
