Job summary

Equiliem seeks a Data Center Technician II in Sterling, VA to install, configure, test, and maintain fiber optic and low-voltage cabling in data centers and commercial environments. You will perform fiber/copper termination, Fluke and OTDR testing, rack-and-stack, and build-outs per blueprints and specs.

Requirements include at least 2 years of data center and fiber experience, high school diploma or GED, and a Monday–Friday day shift.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of data center technician experience.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on fiber optic experience.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform cable infrastructure and fiber rough-in installations.
• Dress, route, label, and manage copper and fiber cabling.
• Terminate copper and fiber optic cables, including Cat cabling.
• Install and configure single-mode and multi-mode fiber and connectors, including ST, LC, SC, and SC-APC.
• Perform Fluke and OTDR testing to verify cable and fiber performance.
• Troubleshoot fiber optic cabling and connectivity issues.
• Rack and stack servers and other customer equipment.
• Perform server rack build-outs, panel build-outs, and rack elevation work.
• Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, pathways, and related infrastructure.
• Receive project materials and assemble required hardware.
• Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installations, including routing fiber into data center facilities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, installation drawings, and project specifications.
• Maintain professional written and verbal communication with colleagues and management.
• Follow applicable safety procedures, including proper PPE use, jobsite housekeeping, and OSHA guidelines.
