Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software in a data center environment. You’ll configure complex components such as networks, routers, and switches and participate in small project teams on larger installations.

A typical day involves moving and installing racks and working with cutting-edge infrastructure. GA/US-based role with strong hands-on hardware focus and occasional non-standard hours.

Qualifications

  • Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Experience diagnosing OS, server hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours, weekends, nights, holidays.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of related troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in data center or NOC environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and operate data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward equipment or infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain data security and integrity per Google standards.
  • Disassemble equipment reaching end-of-life in a team setting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and servers.
