Job summary

Jobtailor in Ohio is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician to manage material orders, inventory, and customer service while ensuring safe handling of high-value equipment and components. You will assemble and install servers, racks, and cabling, perform cycle counts, manage freight, and uphold 5S standards with a focus on accuracy and reliability in a dynamic datacenter environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and maintain effective material orders, customer service, and inventory management.
  • Handle customer material movement requests.
  • Assemble and install servers and electronic components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of inbound and outbound freight.
  • Manage shipping documents and records.
  • Perform quality checks on inbound and outbound freight.
  • Execute daily inventory cycle counts and replenishment orders for critical datacenter spare parts.
  • Process return shipments using multiple warehouse management systems.
  • Oversee and perform server rack placement on the datacenter floor using laser measuring devices with 100% accuracy.
  • Populate electronic components and install cabling into server racks using diagrams and schematics.
  • Install rack hardware using hand, power, and measuring tools.
  • Operate straddle stackers, rack movers, and electric pallet jacks.
  • Oversee and perform cleanup activities to ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S standards.
  • Maintain safety and process procedures, punctuality, reliability, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and cross-training across multiple datacenter departments.
  • Delegate effectively and coach team members.
  • Interact regularly with customers and onsite stakeholders.
  • Build positive working relationships with different working groups.
  • Make confident, accurate, and efficient decisions to meet production goals.
