Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Data Center Operations Technician to join our Ashburn team. You will manage the lifecycle of servers, storage, and networking gear, perform routine facility walkthroughs, and coordinate with vendors to keep the data center running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in a production data center environment preferred.
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Understanding of data center power and cooling components preferred.
• Deep understanding of server components and repair preferred.
• Basic understanding of power and cooling systems in data environments preferred.
• Basic understanding of the Linux command line interface preferred.

Responsibilities

• Share responsibility for 24x7 data center support with local team members.
• Manage the lifecycle of servers, storage, and network equipment, including receiving, racking, maintenance, and recycling.
• Work with operations teams and vendors to ensure equipment operates optimally.
• Coordinate and execute failed-component replacements.
• Coordinate, communicate, and supervise facility maintenance.
• Perform daily facility walkthroughs for equipment error lights and inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain spotless data center, office, and storage spaces.
• Ensure cable management meets department standards and enforce environmental policies.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, network, and physical connectivity problems.
• Act as first responder for technical and facility-related data center issues.
• Participate in data center operations problem-solving and process improvement.
• Support planning, design, and documentation projects for power, cooling, Layer 1 networking, and policies.
• Provide remote-hands support for physical server, network, and telecommunications equipment.
• Maintain relationships with data center facility managers and teams.
• Contribute to the DCEng knowledge base, documentation, and culture.
