Job summary

Jobtailor in New York is seeking a hands-on Logistics Associate to receive, inspect, and record inventory, set up server racks, and coordinate shipments. The role requires practical experience with inventory systems, plus physical stamina for lifting and moving heavy items.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain preferred.
  • Flexible schedule including possible overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming inventory accurately.
  • Maintain inventory records and docs for received and shipped items.
  • Perform stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments with suppliers and carriers.
  • Prepare shipping documents, labels, and packaging.
  • Upload, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments.
  • Transport inventory using material handling equipment per safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean storage areas and docks.
  • Follow safety protocols and data center security measures.
  • Collaborate with data center operations, procurement, and technical support.
  • Support special projects and other duties assigned by management.

Job description

  • • Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming inventory, including racks, trays, networking equipment, and other hardware
  • • Maintain inventory records and documentation for received and shipped items
  • • Perform stock counts and reconcile discrepancies
  • • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with suppliers and carriers
  • • Prepare shipping documents, labels, and packaging
  • • Upload, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments
  • • Transport inventory by hand using material handling equipment in accordance with safety procedures
  • • Maintain clean and organized storage areas and shipping/receiving docks
  • • Dispose of packaging materials and obsolete equipment as needed
  • • Follow safety protocols and data center security measures and access controls
  • • Collaborate with data center operations, procurement, and technical support teams
  • • Support special projects and other duties assigned by management
  • • Set up and install computer server racks according to instructions
  • • Assemble server racks using diagrams and guidelines
  • • Safely use basic tools and equipment
  • • Support senior technicians with server-rack cable management and organization
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in logistics, inventory management, or related fields
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and software
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word)
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents
  • Familiarity with proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred
  • Ability to lift and move heavy material and perform physical tasks related to handling server trays and server racks
  • Ability to use power equipment to move very heavy server racks safely
  • Ability to routinely carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time over 4 hours
  • Ability to walk continuously for more than 10,000 steps (4–5 miles) per day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, push, and pull objects of various shapes and sizes in a team lift
  • Ability to tolerate hot and cold work environments
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including possible overtime when needed
