Job summary

Anthropic Limited seeks a Data Center Substation, Protection & Automation Engineer to own the protection architecture across its US portfolio, from POI to LV switchgear. You will develop and maintain protection philosophy, reference relay settings, and EPMS integration for real-time visibility and secure operation.

You’ll lead protection design, relay settings, and studies, collaborating with partners, vendors, and utility groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE licensure valued but not required.
• 10+ years of experience in power system protection engineering, substation automation, or design for utility/industrial facilities.
• Deep expertise applying and setting protective relays for transformers, feeders, buses, generators, and switchgear; fluent in major relay platforms.
• Experience with protection & control for substation automation and SCADA systems; familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3/Modbus.
• Ability to review and create protection studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash) and guide equipment selection.

Responsibilities

• Own protection philosophy and design basis across HV/MV/LV system; maintain relay settings templates.
• Specify protective relays and settings for transformers, feeders, bus, generator, motor, and arc-flash protection.
• Perform and review short-circuit, coordination and arc-flash studies; influence equipment selection and energy-mitigation decisions.
• Implement transfer schemes, load-shed and restoration logic in protection/automation.
• Review design packages and drive deviations to basis of design; ensure compatibility with standards.
