Job summary

Switch is seeking a Special Projects Construction Manager to lead retrofit, upgrade, and expansion projects in operating data centers. You will be accountable for safety, schedule, budget, and construction quality, coordinating with Operations to protect live environments while delivering outcomes.

Your role directly impacts facility reliability, customer uptime and infrastructure performance, with on-site leadership of multiple workstreams and tight control of MOPs, SOPs, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data center construction management or mission-critical operations.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and IT infrastructure systems.
• Experience managing contractors, budgets, schedules and change orders.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends as project needs.
• On-site role with strict safety protocols (PPE) and site discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead special projects from planning through closeout.
• Develop schedules, cost plans and execution strategies.
• Oversee contractor safety and enforce site standards.
• Conduct site walks and include safety metrics in reporting.
• Supervise on-site construction to meet drawings and specs.
• Coordinate with Operations for maintenance windows.
• Ensure work follows MOPs and SOPs.
• Identify risks and implement mitigations.
• Review contractor invoices, COs and cost docs.
• Provide updates to leadership on milestones and risks.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical and IT infra.
