Job summary

SPX Technologies seeks an Applications Engineer II in Overland Park, KS, to act as the technical liaison between customers and internal teams, translating requirements into actionable solutions for data center projects. You will support sales, manage submittals, and drive project success through collaboration with engineering and operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Fundamental knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Familiarity with HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong technical aptitude and communication skills.
• Knowledge of cooling towers, fluid coolers, etc. is a plus.
• Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to sales representatives, direct account managers, contractors, engineers, end-users and internal departments.
• Assist with SPX factory & R&D tours for internal teams and external customers as required.
• Advise and assist field sales personnel on product details and requirements to obtain solutions.
• Deliver technical training and presentations to internal teams and external customers.
• Determine accurate information and calculations for each sales order.
• Develop strategies based on project variables to maximize winning opportunities.
• Collaborate with sales to evaluate project requirements and propose competitive solutions.
• Coordinate with internal engineering (Ratings, Components, Controls) as necessary.
• Analyze RFQ drawings and project specs to provide scope and site-specific needs.
• Support proposal development with wind/seismic considerations, sound requirements, and pricing for special features.
• Prepare accurate submittal documents for timely client delivery.
• Coordinate order and project information with project manager for smooth handoff.
• Assist with pricing change orders as necessary.
• Represent SPX at trade shows.
