Job summary

University of Georgia is seeking a Computer Ops Technician I to monitor data center facilities, enterprise servers, and networking gear on a third shift. Responsibilities include installing server racks, storage, and network devices, and coordinating activities with shift personnel.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred apprenticeships or a 2-year degree. This is a full-time, on-site position with a 40-hour week (12am–8am) and some holidays/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Apprenticeship, 2-year degree, or professional certificate
  • Experience in data center operations and infrastructure monitoring
  • Ability to work third shift and coordinate activities across staff

Responsibilities

  • Monitor data center environmental controls and alarms per procedures
  • Maintain logs of hardware/software events and outages
  • Assist with installation and monitoring of rack, servers, and network equipment
  • Monitor production jobs using Banner/UC4 and report failures
  • Coordinate maintenance tasks and communicate with operations leadership
  • Attend training sessions to maintain required skills
