Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Data Center Technician in the United States (New York City area) to support core data center operations, including queue management, installations, cross-connects, testing, and on-site customer support. The role requires flexibility for 24/7 shifts and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks in a critical facility.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, monitor stock levels, and participate in projects with vendors to ensure reliable, high-quality service

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2-4 years of equivalent work experience.
• Natural curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working in a critical facility where failure is not an option.
• Willingness to learn and adhere to protocols and processes in place.
• Strong system level mechanical or electrical proficiency.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs with agile manual dexterity.
• 24/7 operation – ability to work any assigned shift, including on-call or off-schedule.

Responsibilities

• Queue management, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Installations of data center equipment and cable management systems.
• Cross-connect installation, testing, and maintenance tasks.
• Testing and troubleshooting of layer 1–3 circuits and related systems.
• Stakeholder partnership and on-site customer support tasks.
• Coordinate with vendors on data center projects and deployments.
• Provide training or guidance to more junior team members.
