Job summary

Salute Inc. in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to oversee daily data center infrastructure, monitor systems, perform basic repairs, and coordinate maintenance with vendors.

You will install and support servers, storage, networking gear, and cabling, ensuring maximum uptime. This full-time role requires 2+ years in data center or mission-critical environments, strong troubleshooting, and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
• 2+ years experience in data center, mission-critical, or colocation environments.
• Working knowledge of data center operations, hardware installation, asset management, and infrastructure support.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting server, storage, and networking equipment from multiple vendors.
• Understanding of structured cabling, copper and fiber installations, patching, testing, and cable management best practices.
• Experience using ticketing systems, asset management platforms, and operational documentation tools.
• Ability to interpret and execute operational procedures, maintenance tasks, and project plans.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; able to respond during high-priority incidents.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support within the data center environment, ensuring reliable and efficient facility operations.
• Respond to incident tickets, service requests, and change orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Install, rack, mount, cable, and decommission server, storage, and network equipment according to industry and client standards.
• Prepare equipment for installation, including asset tagging, staging, testing, and documentation.
• Replace failed hardware components including drives, memory, power supplies, fans, and network modules.
• Monitor data center infrastructure using Building Management Systems and other monitoring tools; respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) to maintain optimal operations.
• Escalate concerns to management and stakeholders as appropriate.
• Support capacity planning for space, power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
• Oversee vendor technicians during maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams on upgrades and projects.
• Maintain accurate asset management records and update systems when equipment changes.
• Track inventory of hardware, cables, and infrastructure components.
