Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, seeks an experienced Computing Systems Professional to support data center operations across eight centers. You will install, upgrade and maintain equipment, cabling, and access controls while ensuring alignment with security and ITIL procedures.

The role advances with two levels, requiring strong teamwork, change-management discipline, and project coordination. Travel and on-call duties may apply; a Q clearance is emphasized for the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience installing data center equipment, including servers, network devices, PDUs and racks.
• Experience following change, incident and maintenance procedures in a production environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform data center operations work including equipment installation/removal.
• Install/remove fiber and copper cables with emphasis on cable management.
• Validate and provide access to secure areas and physical securities.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide timely solutions via ServiceNow tickets.
• Coordinate with facilities regarding Power and Cooling infrastructure and maintenance.
• Write and modify processes and procedures to uphold standards.
• Contribute to developing new methods for managing data centers and accommodating tenants.
