Job summary

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Data Center Operations for a major client in Chicago, IL. The role oversees daily data center facilities operations, ensuring high availability and safety across critical electrical and mechanical systems.

You will lead a technical team, manage vendors and projects, and drive adherence to NFPA, OSHA and industry standards while pursuing energy efficiency and reliable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience with large commercial/industrial systems.
• Expert understanding of electrical distribution, fiber optics, cabling infrastructure, and critical power systems.
• Proven leadership with experience managing technical teams and vendors.
• Familiar with NFPA, OSHA, and NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Strong communication and MS Office/PM tools proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational management of data center facilities for uptime and safety.
• Oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance including chillers, generators, and fire suppression systems.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, and safety codes while optimizing energy use.
• Manage vendor relationships, budgets, timelines, and project scopes.
• Lead technical staff through guidance, training, and performance management.
