Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is seeking a Critical Environments Operating Engineer in Reno, NV, to maintain mission-critical data center infrastructure and ensure 100% uptime for clients. You will operate, monitor, and maintain UPS, generators, cooling, and medium-voltage systems with a commitment to safety and efficiency.

You will work a 12pm–10pm shift Sunday to Wednesday, collaborating with vendors and internal teams while adhering to CMMS workflows and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of hands-on data center or critical facility experience.
• Experience with mission-critical building systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution).
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to document activities clearly.
• Familiar with CMMS, MS Office, and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain critical building systems to ensure 100% uptime (fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, plumbing, controls, UPS, generators, switchgear, transformers).
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, and electrical equipment for optimal performance.
• Record readings, analyze operations, identify issues, and take corrective action.
• Manage work orders through CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and respond to tickets professionally.
• Develop thorough understanding of data center infrastructure to manage incidents and events.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and respond to site emergencies.
• Maintain safe storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials and keep the workplace compliant.
