Job summary

JLL is seeking a Critical Environments Operating Engineer to maintain mission-critical data center infrastructure and ensure 100% uptime for clients. You will operate electrical and mechanical systems, monitor performance, and coordinate with vendors in a fast-paced environment on the 3rd shift (11PM-7:30AM).

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in data center environments, strong communication, and experience with UPS, generators, switchgear, CMMS, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a data center or critical facility environment.
• Experience with mission-critical building systems including UPS, emergency generators, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting activities and sharing technical information.
• Proficiency with computer applications including MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS.
• Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 30 feet, work at heights, and navigate rooftops.
• Flexibility to work different schedules, including holidays, and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Ability to move, walk, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and work overhead in large campus-like settings.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all critical building systems to ensure 100% uptime, including fire/life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, plumbing, controls, UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution and transformers.
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and electrical systems for optimal performance.
• Record readings, analyze system operations, identify problems, and take corrective action.
• Manage work orders via CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and respond to customer-facing tickets professionally.
• Learn data center infrastructure to manage incidents and events affecting critical systems.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and respond to site emergencies to protect operations.
• Maintain safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and keep the workplace clean and compliant.
