Job summary

JLL in New York, NY is seeking a Critical Environments Operating Engineer to maintain mission-critical data center infrastructure and ensure 100% uptime. You will operate, monitor, and maintain UPS, generators, chillers, and power distribution in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers hands-on work with cutting-edge technology, opportunities to grow in critical facilities, and a union position with Local 94. Onsite location and 1st shift, with visa sponsorship not provided.

Qualifications

• + 2+ years in a data center or critical facility.
• + Experience with UPS, emergency generators, switchgear, and power distribution.
• + Strong verbal and written communication; ability to document activities.
• + Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite; CMMS familiarity.
• + Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights.
• + Flexible to work various shifts and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain critical building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
• Monitor, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, cooling, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and electrical systems.
• Record equipment readings, analyze system operations, identify problems, and take corrective action.
• Manage work orders through CMMS and coordinate with vendors.
• Understand data center infrastructure to manage incidents.
• Respond to site emergencies per escalation procedures.
• Maintain safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
