Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) in Elk Grove Village, IL, seeks a Data Center Operating Engineer to maintain and optimize critical facility systems, including UPS, generators, and cooling. The role requires hands-on maintenance, incident management, and strong communication to ensure 100% uptime.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in a data center, experience with building systems, and relevant certifications (EPA 608, NFPA70E). On-site work with CMMS and vendor coordination is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a data center/critical facility.
• Experience with UPS, generators, and switchgear.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite and CMMS.
• Corrigo experience preferred.
• EPA 608 certification and NFPA70E training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver best practice systems and resolve problems on data center infrastructure (UPS, electrical, cooling).
• Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance for 100% uptime of building systems.
• Record readings and adjust equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Analyze system operation to identify causes of malfunctions and take corrective action.
• Comply with hazardous materials policies and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Learn site operations to manage incidents and events impacting critical systems.
• Manage work orders, CMMS, vendor relations, and customer-facing tickets.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and perform additional duties as required.
