Job summary

Gray Construction is seeking a qualified MEP Site Manager for data center projects. You will lead field operations, coordinate critical electrical and mechanical systems, and ensure safety and quality on site across multiple sites.

Travel across the United States will be required. The role demands strong leadership, deep understanding of data center infrastructure, and the ability to manage schedules, crews and subcontractors to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school AND a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of industrial construction experience, with data center or mission-critical experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex data center projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including power distribution, critical cooling infrastructure, commissioning processes, and equipment installation.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and the ability to effectively lead large field teams.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
• Must be able to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents.
• Strong people management skills.
• Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), tablets and smartphones.
• Experience working with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction technology is a plus.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and be an energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.
• Must posses the ability to think for his/herself and be able to manage without direction having to be given.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for installation and coordination of critical MEP systems.
• Assist MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating potential subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Assist in developing scopes of work for review and approval of MEP Project Manager.
• Assist in the development of MEP project schedule and prepare estimates.
• Assist in selection of qualified bidders and negotiate final prices.
• Assist in the preparation of reports such as cost to complete, monthly billings, and status reports.
• Review drawings (P&IDs, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) and coordinate updates.
• Assist in pricing work and change orders.
• Assist in ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion.
• Schedule work, including subcontractors.
• Assist in productivity and quantity tracking of subcontractors.
• Determine materials, equipment and tools needed.
• Secure appropriate supply sources.
• Set up and close out construction site.
• Serve as on-site Safety Officer when not assigned; participate in QMS safety.
• Procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Coordinate with supervisory personnel and subcontractors to prevent delays.
• Resolve complaints within workforce.
• Prepare or review progress, materials used and costs reports.
• Establish high safety and quality standards; ensure QMS compliance.
• Generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement.
• Communicate and enforce Gray’s safety program on site.
• Other duties may be assigned.
