Job summary

Gray Construction is seeking an Assistant MEP Site Manager (Data Centers) to support the Field Operations Team on hyperscale data center projects across North America. This field-based role requires strong coordination of MEP activities, procurement, scheduling, and safety oversight.

You will collaborate with the MEP Project Manager, manage subcontractors, and help ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while upholding Gray’s safety and quality standards. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Minimum five years related experience or training, or equivalent combination.
• 3+ years of industrial construction with data center or mission-critical focus preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including power distribution and cooling.
• Experience with construction scheduling, cost control, and leading large field teams.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6 or similar construction tech is a plus.
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email).

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan start/finish times and staffing for each phase.
• Assist MEP PM in locating and evaluating subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Help develop scopes of work for review by MEP Project/Site Manager.
• Develop MEP project schedule within the overall construction schedule and assist in estimates.
• Solicit prices from subs and vendors for review by MEP PM and Site Manager at project start.
• Assist in selecting bidders and negotiating final prices.
• Assist in drafting subcontracts and purchase orders for review.
• Prepare reports such as cost to complete, monthly billings, and status reports.
• Review drawings (P&IDs, mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural) and maintain current sets.
• Assist in pricing work, draft changes, and change orders.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and coordinate on-site construction activities from pre-start-up to completion.
• Schedule work, including subcontractors, and determine materials, equipment, and tools needed.
• Ensure supply sources are secured and set up/close out construction site.
• Act as on-site Safety Officer when not otherwise assigned and participate in the QMS safety program.
• Generate reports and traceability for continuous improvement within Gray's standards.
