Job summary

DLR Group in Washington, DC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on data center projects to lead the design, coordination, and implementation of high‑performance mechanical systems for critical facilities.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers, create and coordinate Revit documents, perform HVAC and plumbing calculations, write specifications, review submittals, and mentor project teams through complex data-center environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in a MEP or integrated design firm on commercial/public projects.
• 5+ years of design experience related to data centers.
• Proven experience designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems on complex projects.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
• Create and coordinate documents using Revit.
• Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations including code research.
• Perform plumbing/fire protection calculations including code research.
• Write and review specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
• Conduct site visits when needed.
• Manage mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams.
