Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer focused on data center projects in the Houston area. The role involves designing and coordinating mechanical systems for high-performance facilities, delivering scalable HVAC solutions with reliable redundancy.

Collaborate with architects and engineers, produce BIM documentation in Revit, and perform HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection calculations, along with code research and specifications review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in a MEP or integrated design firm on commercial/public projects, including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• 5+ years of data center design experience.
• Proven experience designing HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems on complex projects.
• Experience with BIM (Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of the integrated design process.
• Create and coordinate documents using Revit.
• Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations including code research.
• Perform plumbing/fire protection calculations including code research.
• Write and review specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs and submittals.
• Conduct site visits when needed.
• Manage mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams.
