Job summary

Applied Digital is seeking a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert to lead data center mechanical design, focusing on energy-efficient, reliable solutions for HPC facilities. You will oversee central plants, HVAC and cooling strategies, collaborating with internal design managers and external consultants in a remote, US-based role.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree, 5+ years of data center experience, and CAD/simulation proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
PE license preferred but not required.
5 years' experience designing mechanical systems for data center facilities.
Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC, datacenter cooling systems, and central utility plants.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed designs for data center mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling, ventilation, and automation.
Create technical specifications and engineering drawings for contractors and construction teams.
Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, NFPA, and local codes.
Incorporate energy-efficient technologies to minimize costs and environmental impact.
Participate in vendor evaluation for mechanical equipment and components.
Identify risks and develop mitigation plans for reliability and uptime.
Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and stakeholders to integrate systems.
Maintain and track design changes, specifications, and documents throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
