Job summary

Avance Consulting seeks a skilled Hardware Engineer to troubleshoot and repair data center hardware, and to perform onsite installation, configuration, and maintenance. The role involves working with servers, storage, networking gear, and peripherals in a hands-on environment.

The ideal candidate will diagnose failures, coordinate with vendors, and support upgrades and migrations while maintaining asset documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting and troubleshooting computer hardware and/or data center hardware.
• Understanding of common hardware components and their functions.
• Data Center security awareness.
• High awareness of team communication and information sharing.
• Willingness to read manuals and learn unfamiliar hardware as needed.
• Ability and patience in working with remote teams following direction.
• Experience with server platforms, storage systems, networking hardware, and cabling.
• Familiarity with basic BIOS/UEFI.
• Problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair hardware issues across a variety of systems and devices.
• Perform onsite installation, replacement, and configuration of hardware components.
• Diagnose failures in servers, workstations, storage devices, NICs, memory, motherboards, power supplies, and cabling.
• Work with vendors and support teams to resolve hardware incidents and service requests.
• Support hardware upgrades, refreshes, and migrations and planning of the same.
• Validate equipment readiness, connectivity, and basic functionality after installation or repair.
• Maintain documentation for asset changes, repairs, and site work performed.
• Coordinate with IT, storage, networking, and systems teams as needed.
• Follow change control, safety, and site access procedures.
