Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Service Engineer to support our Global Service network from the Jersey City office. This role involves troubleshooting hardware/software issues and providing technical support via phone and web to customers with data center hardware needs.

This position requires travel up to 50% to customer sites and data centers, with a focus on maintaining uptime and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field, or an Associate’s with relevant experience.
• 1+ year servicing complex X86 systems and parts.
• 1+ year in a customer support role.
• Strong hardware diagnostics skills including BIOS and drivers.
• Able to troubleshoot and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Excel functions or database management.
• Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects in a dynamic setting.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade server hardware.
• Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable automobile.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline technical support to end-users via phone, email, and ticketing system.
• Diagnose hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Escalate complex problems to higher-level teams when needed.
• Perform physical installation, rack and stack, cabling, and data center networking.
• Assist in deploying server, storage, and networking equipment.
• Monitor and maintain data center infrastructure for uptime.
• Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades on data center hardware and software.
• Collaborate with data center staff to resolve issues.
• Document and report data center activities and incidents.
• Travel up to 50% to customer sites and data centers.
