Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to provide hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and operation in a 24/7 data center environment.

You will work with generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems. The role requires 12-hour rotating shifts, on-call rotation, and a US citizen with TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant work experience
• Familiarity with electrical/mechanical systems in data centers
• Knowledge of network design and low-voltage cabling is a plus
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 39 pounds regularly

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment within the data center
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
• Perform routine maintenance such as filter changes and HVAC PMs
• Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
• Ensure safety procedures are followed during work
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts (3-4 day weeks, days or nights)
• Take daily readings of mechanical and electrical equipment
• Use CMMS to manage workflows and spare parts inventory
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance
• Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation
• Comply with physical security procedures and policies
• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in facilities
• Handle small wires and objects
