Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer to maintain and optimize BMS and EPMS across AWS data centers in Virginia. You will troubleshoot, develop new control processes, and ensure reliable operation of critical mechanical and electrical systems.

Work with operators, engineers, and technicians, lead small projects, perform commissioning and testing, read electrical schematics, and follow safety procedures to support mission critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in industrial controls or HVAC controls.
• Basic understanding of industrial controls systems, meters, sensors, relays and troubleshooting tools.
• 1+ years working with low voltage controls, wiring, networking signals, electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, service, and upgrade BMS and EPMS systems across multiple data centers.
• Mentor Facilities team members on BMS/EPMS operation and control.
• Manage small to medium-sized projects and programs.
• Perform point-to-point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain BMS/EPMS programming and hardware in data centers.
• Configure servers, controllers, industrial PCs, and network setups; test third-party device communication.
• Install, replace, and calibrate sensors.
• Read electrical schematics and control drawings; understand closed-loop control concepts.
• Supervise low-voltage electrical contractors on wiring and installation of field devices.
• Provide commissioning and systems-level testing support.
• Create red-lined drawings and documentation; follow change management processes.
• Participate in factory witness tests and root cause analysis during testing and commissioning.
• Ensure site safety with proper methodologies and PPE.
• Support service activities including ticket review, root cause analysis, and task prioritization.
• Manage vendor labor scheduling, QA, and invoice review.
