Job summary

Apple Inc. in the United States is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automation and control systems across electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure, including DCIS integration with MQTT-based platforms.

You will lead specification development, oversee commissioning, and mentor operations staff, focusing on high availability, cross-domain coordination with vendors, and A/E teams to deliver reliable facility performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field, or equivalent job-related experience.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with control systems in data centers or mission-critical environments for both electrical power and mechanical/HVAC systems
• Understanding of controls for high-availability electrical systems (EPMS, MV PDCS) and mechanical systems (chilled water plants, BAS)
• Experience programming DDC/PLC controllers and redlining controls drawings
• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 languages (ST, LD, FBD, IL)

Responsibilities

• Design of data center automation and control systems for electrical infrastructure and mechanical infrastructure
• Author, own, and improve control system specifications and sequences of operations
• Configuration and programming of PLCs, PACs, and DDC controllers or oversight of third parties
• Support the DCIS platform by integrating electrical and mechanical data into the Ignition-based HMI over MQTT
• Commissioning oversight of electrical and mechanical control systems
• Troubleshoot controls and monitoring issues across both domains with FDD and data analysis
• Liaise between design teams, vendors, and operations to deliver high-quality results
• Provide training and mentorship to Operations personnel on control systems and DCIS
