Job summary

Prime Data Centers is seeking a Data Center Controls Engineer to lead controls engineering for hyperscaler projects, from new construction to upgrades. You will draft standards for BAS/BMS/EPMS/DCIM, develop specifications, and ensure system-wide consistency.

You will validate deliverables, collaborate with IT for secure networks, and coordinate with Construction and Procurement to meet cost and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university or college.
• 3+ years of experience in building design and construction with a focus on controls systems engineering for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with Tridium Niagara 4, including system design, programming, and integration of BMS/EPMS systems.
• Proficient in drafting and maintaining engineering standards for controls systems and their integration into project workflows.
• Strong understanding of data center cooling infrastructure and how power sources impact cooling redundancy.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE TC9.9, BICSI Data Center Standards; familiarity with IBC/IMC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and maintain controls design standards for BAS, BMS, EPMS, and DCIM systems across projects.
• Oversee development and updating of specifications, RFPs, and sequences of operation for control systems.
• Lead the drafting and maintenance of Tridium Niagara 4 standards across all control system projects.
• Validate consultant and contractor deliverables (schematics, P&IDs, network topologies, submittals) for compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure secure network connectivity for control systems, including segmentation and vulnerability mitigation.
• Coordinate with Construction and Procurement to procure, install, and commission control systems; support Level 4/5 commissioning and MOP reviews.
• Partner with Operations, Construction, and Procurement to meet cost, performance, and sustainability objectives.
• Review energy modeling data (PUE, load sizing, CFD) to inform design and support value engineering.
• Research emerging technologies to enhance design standards and system performance.
• Represent controls engineering in design meetings with customers, consultants, and contractors.
