Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Data Center Construction Manager in Herndon, VA leads electrical and mechanical system construction for new data centers, coordinating with Operations, Networking, and Security to deliver high-availability infrastructure.

You will be on site daily, interface with construction trades, manage cost, schedule, and quality, and drive vendor performance to meet project milestones for AWS customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience taking concepts from design to deployment.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities as they relate to new builds or general capital projects.
• Ownership of the project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases.
• Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
• Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
• Perform financial analysis of construction.
• Manage construction projects for initiatives aimed at increasing resiliency of data centers.
• Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs.
• Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
• Ensure construction project quality control and report metrics.
• Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis.
• Be a leader within the group and with internal/external teams.
