Job summary

Aligned Data Centers, LLC is seeking an Associate Construction Manager to help oversee large, fast-moving data center projects across North America. You will assist the Construction Manager in planning, pre-construction, construction, commissioning and turnover, coordinating with general contractors, trade partners, and vendors to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
• 2+ years progressive experience in successfully managing commercial construction projects or programs, with data center experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of lean construction methodologies and tools.
• Active listening and collaboration skills to engage all stakeholders in decision making processes.
• Basic understanding of IPD, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build.
• Basic understanding of various contract methods including lump sum, CM at risk, open book GMP, etc.
• Working knowledge of building construction and project management processes and procedures.
• Working knowledge of the design of data centers.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents including drawings, specifications and contracts.
• Proficiency in CPM scheduling methods, construction cost estimating, proposal generation and development, document management and contract administration
• Exceptional leadership, communication, written and verbal presentation, negotiation, analytical and team-building skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work within a team on projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Support projects from inception through turnover, acting as the primary support role to the Construction Manager or Senior Construction Manager.
• Provide guidance and project leadership including ground up construction, remodels, renovations, and fit outs.
• Organize and lead cross functional work groups across multiple disciplines.
• Develop collaborative relationships with contractors, trades, authorities having jurisdiction, and vendors.
• Active management of project budgeting from inception through design phases and turnover.
• Manage budgets during the design phase and input to design decisions.
• Direct up to 25+ external vendors per project.
• Assist in development and implementation of company processes and best practices.
• Create tools to empower contracting and design partners to innovate delivery approaches.
• Ensure effective contract administration including contracts, change orders, and cost forecasts.
• Inspect work in place to ensure quality, schedule and specification compliance.
• Promote training, professional development and career advancement opportunities.
• Provide subject-matter expertise and timely status reporting to management and stakeholders.
