Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Boardman, Oregon is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance of critical facility systems.

You will direct technicians, coordinate with vendors, and ensure 99.999% uptime while upholding safety standards and process improvements. You’ll manage projects from concept to completion, analyze performance benchmarks, and communicate complex technical details to non-technical stakeholders across AWS.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.
• 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance experience and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience or 3+ years combined in electrical/mechanical facilities maintenance.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee operation of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, and chillers.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
• Work outside regular hours for routine maintenance and respond to out-of-hours emergencies.
