Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Sterling, VA is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager to lead capital projects. You will own scope, schedule, and budget, interfacing with general contractors from bidding through closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent
• 9 years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree
• 6+ years of experience constructing and managing complex MEP systems in mission-critical environments
• 4+ years managing general contractors, vendors, RFP processes, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking
• 6 years of experience constructing electrical and mechanical systems including power distribution and cooling

Responsibilities

• Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases.
• Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
• Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
• Perform financial analysis of construction.
• Manage construction projects for initiatives increasing data center resiliency.
• Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for data centers.
• Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
• Ensure construction project quality control and report key metrics to teams and management.
• Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Be a leader within the group and across internal/external teams supporting the data center.
