Job summary

Scale is seeking a Data Acquisition Lead to own the commercial motion for data, from thesis to signature. You will map supply, design deal structures with the legal team, and close end-to-end while coordinating with research and engineering to ensure dataset value and trainability.

The role requires a proven track record in business development, external relationship management, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building a commercial motion from scratch across business development, corp dev, or GTM.
• Strong track record of managing external relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent business judgment and rapid value assessment of partnerships.
• Clear communicator, able to align cross-functional teams.
• Independent but collaborative, hands-on when needed.
• Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Experience in AI, data infra, marketplaces, or high-growth tech.
• Familiar with data licensing, IP, or regulated data.
• Experience collaborating with Legal and Finance on complex agreements.

Responsibilities

• Map the supply side by identifying datasets and domains worth pursuing.
• Invent initial deal structures with Scale’s legal team.
• Close deals from outreach to signature.
• Bridge commercial efforts with technical teams to ensure data trainability.
• Build a repeatable pipeline after initial hands-on work.
