Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Certified Court Interpreter certificate issued by the Judicial Council of California or be registered as a Court Interpreter.
• Ability to interpret accurately between English and the applicable non-English language in courtroom and related settings.
• Knowledge of legal, forensic, and court terminology and ethics for interpreters.

Responsibilities

• Interpret from and into English and the non-English language using simultaneous and consecutive modes at court proceedings and related services.
• Perform sight translations of documents such as petitions, reports, waivers, and plea forms.
• Interpret for judges, attorneys, court staff, the public, and other court departments as directed by the court.
• Maintain logs and complete daily activity records and confidentiality of court documents.
