Job summary

Sacramento Superior Court seeks an Interpreter to perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for court proceedings and related services. Under general supervision, you will interpret between English and the applicable non-English language, including sight translation of documents, for judges, attorneys, staff, witnesses, defendants, and the public.

Duties include reviewing dockets, maintaining logs, and providing interpretation at various court locations.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English and the applicable non-English language; strong consecutive and simultaneous interpretation skills.
• Ability to perform sight translation of court documents.
• Understanding of legal terminology and court proceedings.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in line with California Rules of Court.

Responsibilities

• Interpret from and into English and the applicable non-English language in courtroom proceedings and related services.
• Perform sight translation of court documents and materials.
• Interpret for judges, attorneys, staff, the public, and other court personnel.
• Notify court of issues that may impede interpretation performance.
• Research terminology and court functions across legal, tech, scientific, and medical fields.
• Review daily docket and maintain activity logs and records.
