Job summary

Sacramento Superior Court seeks a bilingual Interpreter to provide courtroom language interpretation on an as-needed basis for proceedings, witnesses, defendants, attorneys, court staff, and the public. Under general supervision, you will perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, sight translation, review daily dockets, and complete activity logs.

A valid Certified Court Interpreter certificate or equivalent registry with the Judicial Council is required.

Qualifications

• Certified Court Interpreter certificate or registered Court Interpreter with Judicial Council.
• Ability to interpret English and applicable non-English language in court settings.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures.

Responsibilities

• Interpret from and into English and the applicable non-English language in court proceedings.
• Perform sight translation of court documents.
• Interpret for judges, attorneys, court staff, and the public.
• Notify court of issues affecting performance.
• Research terminology in legal, technological, scientific, or medical fields.
• Review daily docket and complete activity logs.
• May cross-assign to other courts as needed.
• Perform related interpreter duties as assigned.
