Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks an Athletics/Activities/Activity Sponsor at Proviso East High School to organize and supervise a student club, mentor students, and align activities with district goals.

This non-tenure, extra-duty stipend position requires strong leadership, organization, collaboration with students and staff, and adherence to district policies. The role emphasizes safety, inclusion and development.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students in a school setting.
• Willingness to take responsibility for all duties associated with the position.
• Desirable: Valid Illinois PEL or Substitute Teaching License or Educator-Related Certification.
• Preference given to PTU bargaining unit members per the contract.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and effective supervision for all club-related activities, including meetings, events, field trips, and practices.
• Ensure all off-campus activities are approved and transportation arrangements are made per policy.
• As a mandated reporter, comply with reporting obligations under Illinois law and Board policy.
• Prepare students for participation; define expectations and responsibilities; provide constructive feedback.
• Guide students in planning inclusive, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the club's mission.
• Coordinate logistics and facility usage to ensure safe events.
• Promote student involvement and positive interpersonal relationships.
• Communicate expectations regarding attendance, behavior, and eligibility; enforce policies.
