Job summary

Kroger in Santa Monica is hiring for a customer service-focused role in our dairy department. You will help customers, keep the department clean, and support the manager in achieving sales and quality goals.

You will learn product details, offer samples, inform about specials, maintain temperatures and safety, and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers to ensure a welcoming shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Retail experience in a grocery or retail setting.
• Must have strong communication skills and basic math ability.
• Second language proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.
• Embrace the Customer 1 st strategy and core company values.
• Answer customer questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain knowledge of products and suggest items to customers.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products.
• Inform customers of dairy specials.
• Provide fresh products as ordered.
• Recommend dairy items to ensure customer needs are met.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance and report needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents or safety risks.
• Report all safety risks, theft or fraud.
• Ability to work in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
