Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across the organization.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach for all team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive sales.
• Maintain store appearance and product presentation to company standards.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and development needs; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and advise on discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure thorough training of the team and completion of required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Maintain a safe work environment; ensure reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
