Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Cytotechnologist to independently perform routine and special procedures on patient specimens. The role includes microscopically screening gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides and assisting pathologists, radiologists, and clinicians with procedures.

The position requires preparing specimens, maintaining and calibrating instrumentation, and participating in proficiency testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree ASCP eligible or bachelor's degree and one year certificate program.
• CT (ASCP) certification preferred for the role.

Responsibilities

• Microscopically screens gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides.
• Prepares and processes specimens and assists pathologists and clinicians.
• Operates, calibrates, and maintains instrumentation; ensures quality control.
• Participates in continuing education and assists in training others.
• Ensures cleanliness and supplies; completes proficiency testing.
• Selects specimens for review and QA; performs other duties as assigned.
