Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent; ASCP eligibility
• ASCP Board of Registry certification preferred
• Knowledge of cytology slide processing
• High accuracy and quality in tasks
• Strong verbal and written English communication
• Ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision
• HIPAA compliance
• Proficiency with computer applications
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Screen cytologic specimens including gynecologic and non-gynecologic sources
• Document slide interpretation results per department procedures
• Record daily slide counts and hours spent examining slides
• Assist in training new employees and mentor Cytology Preparation Technicians
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and results
• Cross-train in other areas as needed
• Ensure timely distribution of completed materials to pathologists
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly
• Adhere to safety policies and regulatory requirements
