Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Cytotechnologist to independently screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides, and to assist clinicians with specimen handling and cytology procedures. The role involves operating instrumentation, ensuring quality control and participating in ongoing education.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in an ASCP-eligible program or equivalent plus experience; CT (ASCP) and cytotechnologist expertise are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree ASCP eligible or Bachelor's degree and one year certificate program trained
• CT (ASCP) and clinical cytotechnologist experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Microscopically screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides from all body sites; meet minimum screening output standards.
• Prepare and process specimens; assist pathologists, radiologists and clinicians with fine-needle aspirations.
• Operate, calibrate, check and maintain instrumentation; address quality control issues to ensure accurate results.
• Participate in continuing education and assist in training of health care staff.
• Maintain clean work area and ensure adequate supplies; complete proficiency testing.
• Select specimens for pathologist review and quality assurance; perform other duties as assigned.
