Job summary

Airgas in Rockford, IL is seeking a Plant Operator to support the handling and production of packaged gas cylinders, including high-pressure and cryogenic fills. You will load, label, and move cylinders and ensure safety and quality procedures are followed.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts, inspecting cylinders, and coordinating documentation to regulatory standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role requires attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing, filling or loading is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate equipment for handling and production of gas cylinders.
• Load/unload cylinders to/from route trucks; move with carts.
• Sort empty cylinders by type to maintain workflow.
• Roll and forklift cylinders on pallets.
• Read cylinder labels and color-code tanks for accurate labeling.
• Prepare high-pressure and cryogenic cylinders for filling; connect to manifold.
• Maintain cylinder upkeep: painting, labeling and area cleaning.
• Inspect cylinders prior to filling and perform safety checks as required.
• Coordinate documentation to DOT, FDA, OSHA and Airgas standards.
• Uphold government and company standards for hazardous materials handling.
