Job summary

Airgas, Inc. is seeking a Plant Operator in Bloomington, IL, to safely manage cylinder inventory and operate warehouse equipment. This role requires attention to detail and a strong safety mindset.

You will fill gas cylinders and cryogenic containers, perform inspections, and ensure accurate records while maintaining a clean, organized facility and adhering to safety protocols. Shift flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.
• Experience in plant operations or related field preferred.
• Industrial gas experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, lift gate) to transport, load, and organize cylinder inventory.
• Fill gas cylinders and cryogenic containers to required pressures or platform scale weights with precision.
• Conduct pre-fill and post-fill inspections, including CGA valve connections and leak tests.
• Evacuate residual gas via manifold systems and ensure proper labeling for regulatory compliance.
• Quarantine damaged or defective cylinders for maintenance or retesting.
• Maintain pumping apparatus, pressure gauges, and monitoring equipment.
• Keep accurate filling, measurement, and inventory records.
• Perform routine plant walkthroughs and escalate safety concerns as needed.
