Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer to support the Signals & Street Lighting Engineering Design Unit within the Cycling & Micromobility Network Expansion Program. You will develop and review engineering designs to enable safer, connected corridors for cyclists and micromobility users, preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates for citywide projects.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering and 1 year of civil engineering experience, or a Master's degree in civil engineering.
• Permanent in Assistant Civil Engineer title or filed for Open Competitive Exam #7006 (deadline 8/21/26).
• Driver's license preferred and may be required in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs, plans, drawings, contract specifications, and estimates.
• Review AutoCAD designs and contract documents for intersections citywide.
• Coordinate with design consultants and lead agencies on capital/interagency projects.
• Maintain records of drawings, maps, surveys, and inspection data.
