Job summary

The City of New York Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Civil Engineer in the Cycling & Micromobility Network Expansion Program to advance safe, connected cycling infrastructure. The role involves engineering design, AutoCAD drawing review, and cross-agency coordination.

You will prepare plans, contract documents, and estimates, and participate in meetings with lead agencies. A NY driver’s license is preferred; remote work may be possible up to 2 days per week.

Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master’s degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review engineering designs for safer, more connected corridors for cyclists and micromobility users.
  • Prepare designs, plans, contract and working drawings, contract specifications, technical documentation, and estimates of quantities.
  • Coordinate with design consultants on capital and interagency projects citywide and review AutoCAD designs.

Driver's license (NY)

Education

Bachelors in Civil Engineering + 1 year experience
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
