Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. in Playa Vista, CA, is seeking a Cybersecurity Lead Engineer to run the SOC and drive proactive threat detection, incident response, and team performance.

You will report to the Director of IT & Cybersecurity and collaborate with IT and compliance to align security operations with business goals. Responsibilities include team leadership, incident containment and post-incident analysis, threat hunting, tool optimization, and KPI reporting.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC GCIH, or CompTIA Security+ is a plus
• Proficiency in security tools (SIEM, EDR/XDR, IDP/IDS, CASB/SASE, NESSUS, BURP SUITE, firewalls) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
• Strong technical skills with a strong understanding of networking protocols and operating systems (Windows/MacOS/Linux)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; proven ability to lead teams in high‑pressure environments

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop SOC team including hiring and performance reviews
• Oversee incident detection and response using SIEM and related tech
• Conduct threat hunting and malware analysis to improve detection
• Tune and optimize SOC tools; develop playbooks and automation
• Develop KPIs and executive status reports for threats and posture
• Contribute to SOC strategy and compliance efforts (CMMC/ISO 27001)
• Ensure 24/7 SOC coverage and ongoing process improvement
