Job summary

Apex Space, Inc. is seeking a Director of Cybersecurity to lead enterprise security strategy, SOC operations, and compliance from our Playa Vista office. You will own risk governance, incident response, and security tooling across cloud, on-prem, and restricted environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in cybersecurity operations and 4+ years in SOC leadership or security management.
• Proficiency with SIEM/EDR/XDR/IDS-IPS/CASB-SASE, Nessus, Burp Suite, and firewalls.
• Scripting skills in Python and PowerShell; strong networking and OS knowledge.
• Experience leading CMMC, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53/800-171 audits and continuous monitoring.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and ability to operate in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute a multi-year cybersecurity strategy aligned with business goals.
• Direct the SOC and incident response, ensuring 24/7 readiness and containment.
• Oversee threat hunting, malware analysis, and threat intel integration.
• Own security tooling decisions and KPI dashboards; report to executives.
• Lead governance, risk, and compliance programs and audits across programs.
